My service is the full package, from start to finish. This includes: a consultation; either working from or taking reference photos, and rendering the portrait in a variety of media chosen by the client - pencil, pastel or paint. I can then mount and frame the portrait, so that it is ready to hang and be given as a special gift for any occasion. It is very rewarding to capture the portrait of a beloved relative or pet. I aim for a true likeness and complete customer satisfaction; the portraits are lovingly rendered and can be treasured for posterity.
These are personalised commissions, tailor-made to the customer's requirements, a unique piece of art. They include a variety of subject matter, in different styles and media, worked from personal photos or ideas e.g. a favourite holiday. I also offer the framing service with this.
I am a member of the Birstall and District Art Society, and have exhibited and sold my work with them. I have won a number of prizes with them over the years at the annual exhibition: 'Best Landscape 2006' for 'A Glimpse of Heaven' and 'Best Acrylic 2008' for 'Sunrise over the Watermead'; these were judged by well-known professional artists. I offer framing with this service too.
I work with a printer who is able to put my work onto canvas or produce standard prints for sale.
I have exhibited at Smiths Gallery, London, and Broughton House Gallery, Cambridge.
I have worked both as an employee of a well-established illustration and graphic design studio (Eikon Ltd, Leicester) and as a freelance illustrator since I qualified in 1987. I worked at Eikon in a full-time position for 8 years, from 1988 to 1996, and it was during this time that I learnt to be a professional commercial artist. I covered many subjects in a variety of styles, for a wide cross-section of clients from editorial to advertising, examples of which can also be seen in my eBook. During my career, I have illustrated: packaging and point of sale material for Thorntons PLC; logo designs for a Breast Cancer Appeal and Social Services - Child Achievement Award; brochures for British Steel and leaflets for the Nationwide Building Society; book covers for The Guide Association and Christmas cards for Walkers Crisps - all of which illustrates a diverse spectrum of work.
